Ben has worked as a mandolinist in many different capacities. He played weekly for the Coro Latinamericano during the Spanish-language mass at Christ Church Cathedral in Indianapolis, IN 2014-2015. He has played in two opera productions at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, including by performing the mandolin solo in the "Canzonetta" from Mozart's Don Giovanni and by appearing in an on-stage banda for Franz Lehar's The Merry Widow. He also played in the Bramus Trio, an ensemble that specialized in the Brazilian genre of Choro. Additionally, he performed the solo part from Vivaldi's violin concerto "Le Estate" with the Indiana University Guitar Ensemble and won the 2015 and 2018 mandolin competitions at the Iowa State Fair.
